The past days, I've been riveted to my desk pretending to work, but really I am following the American election fever. It is on, and it is high. I am thrilled at the maturity level of their democracy. In my unmathematical calculation and non-scientific basis, 98% is issue based, and only 2% is delegated to shenanigans and character assassination.
Seriously, If I am an American, then I would be a Democrat.
But I am not an American. And we don't have Republicans and Democrats, only political butterflies who visits the sweetest political nectar of the moment. And no matter how enthralled I am with their politics, I have never dreamed of an American dream. What I am dreaming is the day we Filipinos move away from our brand of politics. The epal type. I dreamed that dream when our politicians are genuinely trying to uplift the country; when issues weigh heavier than personalities; when jobs creation is prioritized over the CCT.
