dumber than Dumbo

This generation is privileged to have a real Damaso in their midst. The pedophile priest who not only adores the ivory images of Sto.NiƱo but moreso the innocent bodies of young altar boys. He thought he was invincible. Fueling the massacre of herds and herds of elephants. Corrupting the mind and bodies of minor boys in an environment consecrated to the holy and the saints.

Apparently, this devil has a name, and it is CRISTOBAL GARCIA. May a thousand and one elephant soul pound you into the depths of hell.

T is for threat.

The US State Department has just alerted U.S citizens who are here in the sunny archipelago of the PH. The message was:

Threat Against American Citizens in Manila
The U.S. Embassy advises American citizens in the Philippines that a threat against American citizens in metropolitan Manila, specifically the Pasay City neighborhood, has been detected by reliable security forces.   This threat remains in effect until October 10, 2012.

In response to the threat, the U.S. Ambassador has ordered an augmented security profile for all U.S. government facilities in Manila.

no longer innocent

UP announced that it would show the clip that launch a thousand siege. Well, it's UP. We are in RP, no one is extreme enough here to cause such a widespread raucous. Well, generally, at least. Though speculative, it is not impossible that some extremist muslim might already be in our midst.

Today, a last minute announcement was made saying that the film will no longer be shown. Like an "inasinang bulate" the attention-whore professor that HE is - claimed so many things and that certain rights were trampled.

Kamown, sir. Why was the showing got cancelled? I am sure the issue is not about us being deprived of our  constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. I think the issue was security. Unless you can guarantee that no extremist would pass "security" and throw a grenade or open fire at the freedom loving UP community.

See, this is not about us and assault to our freedom. Remember the clip can be viewed over the internet, and unlike in some countries where many Muslims would not even dare exercise restraint and  logic, we in the free country of PH can see it any time and play it on loop if one wishes to.

But please, don't be a grandstanding-scumbag-attention-whore-ambulant-chaser-wig-wearing professor on this issue. You'll never know. Why don't you just assign your class to watch the film in the safe confines of their rooms/ or dorms and then submit a reaction paper. No need for a public showing as if it was an art film. Promise po, mas maganda pa production value ng Bogart-GangnamStyle.

Shagidi-shagidi-sha-po-po

A 15 minute youtube "movie" has unsettled the very volatile Arab world. The US ambassador to Libya died; other US embassies in that region have been under siege, a KFC outlet has been burned. All because of the "movie."

So I watched it. Found it boring. Bogart the Explorer is more enjoyable and has a better production value than this youtube movie that launched a thousand attack. But I am no Muslim, hence not enraged. Or have these torch carrying muslims seen that horrible movie? Or are they enraged because others are? Oh, yeah there's mob rule. The i-dont-know-what's-happening-but-let's-join-the-crowd-anyway.
Come on.

Or we non-muslims have no fervent desire to fight for our God. I remember not long ago about an exhibit where the artist has "desecrated" our religious icon. They've put condom, penis doodads, mickey mouse images, and whatnot. There was an uproar, yes; but only from the zealots, from the chismosang manangs of the church, from the pedophile priests, from the rapist priests, and generally from the wolves in priest clothing. The rest went on with their lives. No museum was burned. Nobody got crucified this time.

Point is: The movie is so bad the unintended consequence has been disproportionately overblown of its value.

Thankful.

While I openly show dismay if these tropical depressions don't make a landfall, I am sincerely thankful that they don't. And Karen is just like them, strong and considerate enough not to make a landfall.

Thank you Lord for sparing us, yet again, from the destructive wind and rain of Karen.

Shallow Me

Ok, this is not a rant. Maybe it is.

But lately, I've been preoccupied by everything mundane. Money.Phone Upgrade.Winning the lotto jackpot.Dining out. Looking good (because I look like a hideous monster). And today, (must be the cold meds I'm taking) I realized how shallow  I am becoming. I hope this is just a phase.

Why am I like this? This is not me. Hahaha.

Well, I have an inkling of the probable culprit. See, I've been working hard ever since. And depriving myself most of the times. You see, "kailangang mag-impok." But all these delayed gratification is causing my Id to overflow. And the downside is me getting shallow and materialistic.

Lesson: it's ok to moderately spend. I guess this is really a non-lesson.

Of Suicides and Pinoy Epal-oticians

The world celebrates Suicide Prevention week. And up above the equator, a Japanese Finance official just committed one-- by hanging. The story ran by the Japanese press pointed to an allegation of the minister's extra-marital affair. That is Japan-- The land of delicadeza; where officials commit harakiri to protect the institution rather than shield themselves with the power they had.

I am not asking for our epal-oticians to do the same. That is too much, i know, but would have wished the same.

I guess "resiliency," the much vaunted Filipino trait that help us survive disasters after disasters is the same trait common to most politicians that help them survive thier kapal-mukha style of governance. Resiliency. But many Pinoys are so busy earning a decent living they don't care much. Or dismissed the same. Apathy beleaguers this nation.

Wake up. No to epals!

ouch! nakuryente?

I didn't even bother reading today's news article re who's supporting our stand in the South China Sea, and other APEC related matters. But apparently, 1st World Singapore gave a damn - but who wouldn't? We are talking of China the dragon, no one wants to get burned, right?

The official Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted: "Unlike the Filipino media reports you refer to, we deal with facts not fiction." Ouch.

Here's the link.

American Dream

The past days, I've been riveted to my desk pretending to work, but really I am following the American election fever. It is on, and it is high. I am thrilled at the maturity level of their democracy. In my unmathematical calculation and non-scientific basis, 98% is issue based, and only 2% is delegated to shenanigans and character assassination.

Seriously, If I am an American, then I would be a Democrat.

But I am not an American. And we don't have Republicans and Democrats, only political butterflies who visits the sweetest political nectar of the moment. And no matter how enthralled I am with their politics, I have never dreamed of an American dream. What I am dreaming is the day we Filipinos move away from our brand of politics. The epal type. I dreamed that dream when our politicians are genuinely trying to uplift the country; when issues weigh heavier than personalities; when jobs creation is prioritized over the CCT.

this has to stop

Sotto and his staff are getting into everyone's nerve. It frightens me thinking that an elected official who's been committing blunders after blunders reflects the collective Pinoy mentality.

x-x-x

Kudos to individuals and groups who are scrutinizing the Proposed National budget. Sneaky sneaky LP people.

Empowering who?

Earthquakeroats

Another Strong earth movement has been recorded down south. We, in Luzon have been warned for quite sometime that a Big One is ripe and just around the corner. Which corner, that I pray far from where I am.

But really, it's better to be safe than sorry. So today, I'll be checking the exit doors and stairs of our building and will mark a safe place where to hide. But really, who is safe?

let the stress begin

I am not sure, but is it mandatory for buses to play Christmas songs? In a way, it conditions us for a frenetic holiday that is coming.

Ah, the stress. Foods.Gifts.Godsons & Goddaughters.Cousins.
