awoooooooooh

---

Shake Rattle and Roll

LOL.

prisoner erap NO MORE

I am proud to have been part of EDSA 2, the only rally that i have joined my entire life. Having graduated from the University that prouds itself to be the beacon of activism, this was the only issue i cared advocating. The thundering chant of 'ERAP RESIGN now!' still reverberates all over my body, the honking of vehicles to the same tune excites us and energizes us even more. Now it's history.ERAP did resign -- constructively as the Supreme Court puts it. We did push him out of office after all. Now it's history.

The Sandiganbayan have valiantly stayed put and remained unblemished from outside pressure. For SIX long years they have labored and sifted thru truth and lies and have managed to CONVICT Erap of Plunder. The day we saw justice triumphs over those ho have flouted the law big time and have condescendingly raped the national coffers in favor of his kamag-anaks, kaibigans, and kumpares... the same lot he have sworn on his first day to never allow to influence his administration. Yes we are jubilant, to use elation is an understatement. It have shown the whole world that we are serious in stamping out graft and corruption. Now, that's history.

It's not entirely a surprise though, the talk of pardoning prisoner Erap lingers like a putrid decaying corpse. And yes there were a lot of threat and opposition against any grant of pardon. And yet despite it, Arroyo the unpopolar, barely weeks of conviction, have formalized the rumors and pardoned Erap she DID. The President’s order in full: Accessed 30 October 2007

“Whereas, this Administration has a policy of releasing inmates who have reached the age of seventy (70),

“Whereas, Joseph Ejercito Estrada has been under detention for six and a half years,

“Whereas, Joseph Ejercito Estrada has publicly committed to no longer seek any elective position or office,

“In view hereof and pursuant to the authority conferred upon me by the Constitution, I hereby grant executive clemency to Joseph Ejercito Estrada, convicted by the Sandiganbayan of plunder and imposed a penalty of reclusion perpetua. He is hereby restored to his civil and political rights.

“The forfeitures imposed by the Sandiganbayan remain in force and in full, including all writs and processes issued by the Sandiganbayan in

pursuance hereof, except for the bank account(s) he owned before his tenure as President.”
One moment we are ecstatic, the next gloomy. The outrage is not without any basis. 1) The conviction has not even reached a month to be celebrated; 2) ERAP has never been to a real Pinoy jail, the one that is overcrowded and reeking with cockroaches; 3)The reason that he is 70 and that it is a state policy to release such convicts is outright unfair if not illogical.

Following that same reasoning, then never should we see any prisoners age 70 and above. Rightfully indignant, Erap committed the biggest crime against the state and that is PLUNDER.

According to the Revised Penal Code :
Art. 36. Pardon; its effect. — A pardon shall not work the restoration of the right to hold public office, or the right of suffrage, unless such rights be expressly restored by the terms of the pardon.

A pardon shall in no case exempt the culprit from the payment of the civil indemnity imposed upon him by the sentence.

Art. 41. Reclusion perpetua and reclusion temporal; Their accessory penalties. — The penalties of reclusion perpetua and reclusion temporal shall carry with them that of civil interdiction for life or during the period of the sentence as the case may be, and that of perpetual absolute disqualification which the offender shall suffer even though pardoned as to the principal penalty, unless the same shall have been expressly remitted in the pardon.
Erap the free man now restored to his full civil and political rights, is an awful truth, a history that would haunt us forever.

Agree or not, 2 weeks more and PINOYS would not even care.

----

But contrary to popular demand, I beg to not join those who call for Arroyo's resignation. The alternative to this administration as FVR puts it is ANARCHY, and nobody wants it (?). The constructive thing to do is to set sight of 2010, build a credible lineup of personalities that would bring our country not only economic wealth but instill patriotism, morality, and a sense of nationhood that after more than 100 years of independence we haven't really acquired nor enjoyed.

Side note. Kasi naman everytime I see or hear Oscar Cruz, Antonio Tobias, Nene Pimentel, Teofisto Guingona, Dinky Soliman point their accusing fingers and open their loudmouth, I lose interest to anything they are filibustering about. Sad bunch of old frustrated wannabes.

-----

And to everyone who have sold their souls to the devil just to hold on to that fleeting political clout, Hala, Mata lang ang walang latay sa takdang panahon!

----

In spite of all these, Yes, the Filipino people is still worth dying for! Somehow justice will be served and exacted to those who have deprived the others.

Goat - escapist, nudist

The LPP officials refused to apologize for the money distribution and blamed their secretariat for handing out the money right in MalacaƱang and for not explaining to the two governors what the money was for.

Evardone said it was unfortunate that the Palace was dragged into the issue, which was a result of a “miscommunication.”
news from Inquirer.

A convenient excuse. An escape goat.

Not that it is unbelievable, it's just so late an excuse. And I don't want to add anymore to those who are perpetually questioning the motives of this administration. But, sanamagan, they should have done that the very next morning Gov. Panlilio of Pampanga asked them to explain what the money was all about. It is laughabale at the most, but everyone finds it funny no more. So the spokesperson of LPP claimed it was because of the secretariat's fault not explaining to the newbie governors what the money in the brown baggy is for and of all the places distribute it inside the palace! Doling out 500,000s without explanation nor receipts is not dubious?! Wow, where is transparency albeit accountability? Ho hum. It seems, from the same article, that the only qualification for receiving such small amount of moolah is to be a first timer governor. Because it is the 'noble' wish of the LPP to help the said governors in their 'capacity-building' .Despite the capacity of the province? Would it not be inequitable to give Bulacan and Pampanga (already relatively stable if not rich provinces ) a measly 500,000 when other provinces would have benefited from that ALLOTED/PULLED/CONTRIBUTED fund which according to the governonr of Palawan totals 21 Million (the fund or the total money given?).

Noble huh?

Hmm... this is one of the legitimate issues which fails to solicit a palpable reaction from Juan dela Cruz. Haay, it seems many are still lethargic to take action (not necessarily on the street). But apathy just seemed to be still the general atmosphere. Yep, everyone just wanted to go on with their everyday life, earn a living, feed their family and politicians be damned, nobody cares anymore. Why? My observation is that many if not most are fed up with the antics of our politicians. Oppositionists blaming the administration for the nation's every ill, conducting investigation at the hint of every controversy, all for media mileage. And the administration for shrugging off it's human right's statistics, of its legitimacy, of its foreign policies and treaties (JPEPA, ZTE, CyberED, etc.). Of the so-called civil society who also blames the administration also for everything including the death of their pets. Of religious preachers who cannot help but meddle with the afffairs of the State. Of the leftist activists who denounces every government as 'tuta ng kano'. Of the rightist government apologists. and other clowns and buffoons. (ejusdem generis). All these contribute to the numbing of Juan dela Cruz whose body now has an inch thick kalyo.

We are not stupid, and please do not push us over the edge. Because when push comes to shove, bigla na lang magigising ang mga damdaming makabayan! And, I may be an idealist but hell yeah, what's wrong in wanting to be governed and served by a government that truly cares for the welfare of its citizens?

at long last, i can finally say it's over! woohoooo..... Last friday was the last day of a week long QA contest, that was a tough one. i am convince that working is not compatible with codals and jurisprudence and provisions and constructions, (or maybe it depends on the type of work?, but i doubt that because any work entails time consumption, ergo lost precious time that could have been devoted to reading cases and memory works.) But hell no, to not work is not an option for me.

Hay, kelan ba ko tatama ng lotto??? ... 'nyway as i was saying we drank the night away somewhere near manila de bay. laugh trip talaga!. afterwards, we stayed with G for two hours to kill time. D and I woke at about 4.30 am and went straight to bus station going to our respective probinsiyas.

I slept until past 10.30. Yahooo! talaga, waking late with nothing to read or memorize in particular. I am attending a wedding at 1.30pm, and since i asked the bride (H.S classmate/friend) for a particular gift (she said anything but kitchen things). and i'm finding it hard to think of the best gift, but then i just decided to give it in cash.. anything less 5,000 is an acceptable hassle-free donation propter nuptias. Hahahaha... wala naman akong hangover niyan! LOL.

So i went to xing to withdraw some measly cash and to my horror (since it was a payday) 4 atms i've been to were all blinking red, futcha ang init mehn... and naglalakad lang ako. so dasal dasal, kasi pag wala akong na-widthraw wala akong gift :( ... the power of prayer nga naman, yung isang Equitable buhay pa! hooray. On my way, i was texting profusely because i knew i was late so i was asking my friends where were they seated... And because i was busy txting i forgot to pay . yikes, tinawag pa ko, nakakahiya.. Hahaha...

The thought of losing the phone did not sink until the end of the ceremony. The wedding was intimate, very ideal, grand but not pretentious. :D It was nostalgic seeing my HS classmates. sigh. To C&M may you have a wonderful and fulfilling family life ahead of you!

After the wedding we changed into our casuals and went to paseo de sta rosa... Hahaha.. gala to the max! But before that i have my cousin call Globe reps to block my phone. I was told I can apply for the same number when i avail of a new account. So yun yung pa konswelo... pero pano
yung 4 years worth of contacts aber???

Wala akong ginawa ng sabado at linggo! mabuhay! Of course i have not forgotten the research paper, may monday to saturday pa naman eh.

harhar. So monday, serious mode ulit, i went to the LIB to gather materials and literature to support my paper. And that kept me busy the whole weeknights until 1.30 am. And today, ipa-pass ko na today ang research paper ko today, yehey na naman to!!!

Honestly i feel proud of myself for being able to jugle work at the same time having survived the rigors of loskul, could have performed better but at least i got a nice excuse for being/doing otherwise... Hahahaha...

Oscar the Grouched

Give it to Gov. Panlilio, all the fuss due to his being a political greenhorn. I would not focus on whether it was a bribe or not, or should the good governor accepted the money or not. We do not really know what transcribed in that League of Governor's meeting, so I should just reserve my comment until further information (¿incriminating?) leaks out. As to the ever-talkative and very bitter BISHOP OSCAR CRUZ, tsk tsk tsk is all I can say. And I quote:

“The teaching of the Church is clear: However holy your intention could be, you cannot just use money if you don’t know its source for this may be wrong,” Archbishop Oscar Cruz of the Lingayen and Dagupan Archdiocese, said in an interview with Church-run Radyo Veritas.

»» Ang plastic! It is a common knowledge that Catholic Church receives money from Jueteng Lords. And that not a very long time ago a clergy even defended the Church action and feigning innocence as to the source of the money telling everybody that donations are donations and that it is not the Church's business to ask where it came from. Haay, naku another hypocritical act from the bitter 'oscar the grouch' cruz.

“I have been against his entering into politics ever since so I would just reserve more comments on the issue involving him,” Cruz said referring to Panlilio, who was former parish priest in Pampanga. Cruz headed the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.
»» Aynaku ulit, this shows you Mr.Grouch is a one bitter priest, Gov. Panlilio beat you into it. At least his brand of service is an 'action' type unlike yours, 'the-tongue-lashing-toxic-comments-criticize-like-there's-no-tomorrow' type of a bitter self blasphemer. At least si gov positive, eh ikaw mr.grouch? phooey!

He said the distribution of the cash was “nauseating,” considering that it took place in the wake of the filing of a new impeachment case against President Arroyo.
»» Yeah, Let's philosophize everything! Everyone is a moral person, and thou art the most moral of them all... yikes!

“It’s so sad to know that not too many of our politicians have the courage to say no to money. It seems that when it comes to money, most of them really melt down,” Cruz lamented.
»» Oh well, and so is the Church that you are serving.

Philippine Med Schools

“OK, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Because I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines.” - teri hatcher, desperate housewives

So, this line pronounced by teri hatcher in 'desperate housewives' has exposed once again the onion-skinned knee-jerk reaction of most pinoys.

Well, maybe it has indeed cast a doubt over the pinoy medical practitioners. And it's rightful for them to demand apology from the network. And ABC have already released such. But for the hitchhikers, think again....

Personally i don't think it is a racial slur... hatcher said she wanted to MAKE SURE that the doctor is not from SOME MED SCHOOL in the philippines. So, what's the big deal? Surely, she's not referring to UP and UST med graduates. LOL. But kamon naman, let's face it, kung tayo nga dito kung mang discriminate sa mga pipichuging schools parang walang bukas... And her line is not about discrimination at all, it's about a patient wanting to be treated by a competent physician, eh kung graduate nga naman ng Mt.Tralala School of Medicine na kung saan ang specialty ay FAITH HEALING, hindi ka ba naman matatakot. My, point is, the character's demand is to be expected from a paying patient.

Haha... 1) Script lang po yun, 2) The line is not discriminatory at all, pwede naman niyang sabihing 'from some med school in arizona'.

Pinoy talaga, funny. :D

And besides alam natin na magagaling mga pinoy doctors save for those who graduated from 'some med school'. Heheheh... Kaya this is just a challenge for every med school to produce high caliber physicians. And also for the Civil Service Commission at sa Professional Regulatory Commission to screen prospective doctors and shut down the non-performing always kulelat ma school kasi it is your duty to protect the public from unscrupulous practitioners from all fields and professions.

Free Burma and the falling rain

I am one with the monks. May KARMA befell upon their oppressors and may the Burmese people live the free life the truly deserve

* last week, in the height of this turmoil i got irritated when one of my officemate, a sophist 'christian' branded the monks as having disregarded their most important religious tenet. I was confounded on WTF was that all about. Burmese people have suffered long enough because of an oppressive military regime, think pol pot, think genocide. And that all these saffron-clothed monk did was march in silence, and all this officemate of mine can intellectually say is that??? Ohh... talk of religious hypocrisy! I was really dumbfounded that all I have told him was a brief history of the oppression that was in Burma and that i have no idea what the MOST important religious tenet of the monks were. But one thing for sure, i said, that them knows what they are doing and that it is the right of everybody to live peacefully, monks or not.

-----------------

Yesterday as I was sitting by the window preparing for some secret-service stuff, the rain was falling hard. The weather center said it was caused by the passing of Hannah. I really prefer the cold wet rain over the heat and UV rays of the sun. And i was inspired by the sound of the rain drops impinging on the roof, pavement and earth...

ode to the rain

the rain is falling now
the sky pours melancholy
as the rivers overflow with glee
the road are flooded indignantly

the dampness that surrounds me
the musty smell of my pillows
the cold moist air
lulls me to effervescent discontent

intriguingly, the wind is not howling
as if preparing.
please come swiftly
and blow me into anonimity
